Hamdard is excited to name Damaso Hodges as Director of Behavioral Health.  Damaso is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 10 years experience providing mental health and social services to individuals, groups, and families throughout Illinois and Ohio. Damaso has worked with individuals of all ages; from birth to three year olds with developmental delays to the geriatric population. Damaso has worked with a wide range of individuals, including those struggling with addictions to individuals living with chronic and severe mental illness. Damaso has extensive experience developing inpatient and outpatient programming for behavioral health hospitals and providing administrative and clinical supervision to teams of social workers in inpatient/outpatient mental health settings, crisis services, skilled nursing, and residential facilities. Damaso is also an educator who teaches college level coursework in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. Damaso has also been a member of and served on multiple committees of several professional associations (National Association of Social Workers, American Association of Clinical Social Work, American Association of Suicidology, Association of Contextual Behavioral Science, American Psychological Association, American Sociological Association, and Society for the Study of Social Problems).  Damaso approaches the therapeutic relationship with an eclectic approach that is holistic, strengths based, and client-centered. Damaso values the therapeutic relationship and encourages the individual to guide the therapeutic process. Damaso’s therapeutic approach is strongly influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.
