Training & Internship

Keeping the primary goal of prevention in mind, Hamdard has been aggressively engaged in providing community outreach and education. Hamdard staff provide extensive follow up and support services to clients in their homes, neighborhoods, and community, including mosques, temples, and churches. Hamdard staff continue to make major presentations focusing on such diverse topics as family dysfunction, cultural diversity, communication, stress management, parenting skills, domestic violence, child abuse, and ways to strengthen marriages.

Hamdard is now an approved site for certified training in domestic violence. Hamdard is also a recognized training site for doctoral and masters level psych and counseling interns and students from major academic institutions in Chicago area. The Center is not only staffed by highly motivated culturally competent multilingual staff and pro-bono professionals and volunteers, it is constantly looking to hire qualified multilingual professionals with South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Bosnian background. Hamdard maintains its own database, and has been collecting data on domestic violence, community support system, and family dysfunction by using a variety of research tools which can help us understand our community and its problems.
