Anjum Khaja, MD
The office setting at Hamdard Healthcare, though modest, is warm and inviting. Patients are greeted by friendly and professional staff. Each provider has their own office in which to conduct their own behavioral health services. All medical records are maintained on an electronic medical record system. Our office hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. Dr. Khaja has 20 years of experience in community outpatient settings. Dr. Khaja has experience working with the severely mentally ill, recently discharged from inpatient treatment, and those in or discharged from nursing homes. She has worked at Community Counseling Centers of Chicago and Lutheran Social Services. Hamdard’s policy is for a client to see a counselor prior to seeing a psychiatrist to gather important social history information. The psychiatrist will review the chart prior to the first visit with the client. The first session (intake) with the psychiatrist is 60 minutes long and occurs only once. During this session the psychiatrist will be sure to clarify any questions they may have after reviewing a chart. The psychiatrist will also gather a social history of their own; which will include a detailed medical history, a detailed medication history, and mental health history. Subsequent sessions with the psychiatrist are 20 minutes long for medication monitoring and are scheduled based on the psychiatrist’s discretion. They may range from every 3 weeks to a month when introduced to a new medication, to every three months for maintenance appointments.
